Before Metallbude existed, there were just four friends with a shared dream – connected by their passion for craftsmanship, creativity, and an unrelenting drive to act. Four young men with big ambitions who found no room for their realization in their then jobs. Discontent famously demands change, so they began to turn naive daydreams into concrete plans. Thus, the dream became a reality in 2020, and the former dreamers became entrepreneurs. Their vision – then as now: to create high-quality furniture in timeless design while simultaneously creating a space for creativity and individuality. Their material: metal. For them, it embodies aesthetics, durability, and sustainability in design. 

We develop, design, and produce our furniture and home accessories ourselves. Design is thus a central aspect of our work. Our products are characterized by their timeless aesthetics and innovative, functional design. A clear design language, neutral non-colors, and an open structure create furniture that not only meets current design standards but also addresses individual needs and different style approaches. Our design philosophy fundamentally aligns with the principle of longevity and is based on the aesthetic and craftsmanship quality of our products.

As producers, we bear a responsibility towards our environment and at the same time have the opportunity to inspire a more conscious lifestyle. Therefore, we design and produce exclusively products that are equally durable in their aesthetics and functionality. A timeless look combined with a clear function is the guiding principle that runs like a common thread through our mindset and processes – from design to the final product. For us, this primarily means ensuring quality: We work with robust materials, high-quality welds, and easy-care coatings. Our products are mostly handcrafted and thus made with all senses. This special relationship between people and product is what enables reliable quality. 

Our understanding of sustainability is based on our design philosophy and the principle of longevity. By providing furniture pieces with lasting material and aesthetic quality, we ensure long-term, conscious need fulfillment. The design of tomorrow is not mass production that harms the environment. Our approach therefore aims to avoid overstock and so-called dead stock. For this, we work with regular inventory checks, inter- and intra-feedback processes, and quantitative evaluations. Packaging is also an area where we can contribute to sustainability: Our products are shipped in FSC®-certified, product-sized boxes and equipped with only as much filling or protective material as is essential for safe shipping and intact condition. 

Metallbude is a team project, as we firmly believe that together we are capable of more than one alone. Our team now consists of almost 40 employees, who, with their expertise, passion, and curiosity, make Metallbude what it is. Over time, we have been able to perfect the idea and implementation of modern furniture design and better meet our quality and sustainability standards. Innovation is also a driving force behind the creation of Metallbude. In the future, we want to continue to think ahead, rethink, and rethink to create the designs of tomorrow, continue to create, and inspire. And to grow together.
